Managing Voting Polls

Use

The polls feature allows you to set up a voting poll in a category or forum. You can view, create, and edit polls. The lifetime of a poll is controlled by three dates: the start date, the end date, and the expiration date. In general, the end date must be before the expiration date.

During the period between the start date and the end date of a poll, the poll in question appears in the forums and members can cast a vote. Following the end date, voting is closed but the poll is still visible. Following the expiration date, the poll no longer appears in the forums. It will, however, appear on the Poll Settings page.

Procedure

  1. From the Admin Console , open the Settings tab.

  2. In the left-hand navigation pane, choose Poll Settings .

Adding a Poll

In the Add Poll section, proceed as follows:

  1. Choose the Poll Type (category or forum)

  2. Give the poll an identifier, title, and description in the text boxes provided.

  3. Give the poll a start date, an end date, and an expiration date.

  4. If you want users and/or guests (anonymous logons) to be able to modify their votes, select Yes .

  5. If you want users to be able to vote multiple times in the poll, select Yes .

  6. Choose Add Poll .

Editing or Deleting a Poll

In the Current Polls list, proceed as follows:

  • To edit a poll, choose in the relevant line.

  • To delete a poll, choose in the relevant line.

Viewing Poll Results

In the Current Polls list, choose in the relevant line.
