NSR Classifications

Use

The system can use the planned and released services to make an NSR classification according to the nursing staff regulations (NSR). This classification is used for internal benchmarking and as a control element in hospitals.

Only relevant for the Nursing Complex Procedure Score (PKMS) in Germany: If PKMS outlay points exist for a patient in the system, the report has to take them into account when determining the NRS classification.

Integration

You can use OU parameter N1PFKLPL to determine whether NSR classification should take place and whether you wish to make this classification manually or automatically.

If you configure the automatic classification, this is made when you enter new nursing services in ordered status or when you release the nursing services.

Prerequisites

The NSR-relevant procedures are assigned to the NSR services of the NSR service catalog in basic catalogs.

Features

You can make two types of classifications:

  • Only relevant in Austria: Prospective classification, based on planned nursing services

Note that for the nursing level NSR-G4, prospective classifications are not possible since there is no prospective PKMS classification.

  • Retrospective classification, based on released nursing services

The following reports are available:

  • You can use the NSR classification report Derivation of NSR Classifications (RN1UPPR0) to make the classifications for a number of cases, organizational units and a defined period of time.

From the selection screen of the report (RN1UPPR0) you can set the indicator G1/S1 thereby determining that patients without nursing services automatically receive nursing level of care G1/S1.

    Note

The report (RN1UPPR0) overwrites earlier manual classifications.

For information about this, see the report documentation.

Only relevant for the Nursing Complex Procedure Score (PKMS) in Germany: For the report to classify a patient in nursing level NSR-G4, this patient must already have been classified through the daily NSR classification in nursing level NSR-G3 and must have at least six PKMS outlay points posted for the corresponding day in the system. This means that after the original NSR determination the report also checks if more than six PKMS outlay points exist and, if appropriate, makes the NSR classification in nursing level NSR-G4.

NSR classification in nursing level NSR-G3 + six PKMS outlay points = NSR classification in nursing level NSR-G4.

    Example

A patient is given an NSR classification "G3/S2" based on the original NSR determination. The report detects that six outlay points exist for this patient and changes the NSR classification to "G4-S2".

  • You can use the NSR evaluation report Evaluation of NSR Data (RN1PPR01) to create evaluations for the NSR data.

For information about this, see the report documentation.

Only relevant for the Nursing Complex Procedure Score (PKMS) in Germany: The new NSR classification in nursing level NSR-G4 yields the following minute values of the costing NSR, based on the PKMS rule set of the expert panel of the German nursing council:

    • Adults (NSR-A-G4): 257 minutes

    • Adolescents (NSR-Y-G4): 296 minutes

    • Children (NSR-C-G4): 302 minutes

The report takes these minute values into account for the evaluation and display also according to the PKMS rules of the expert group of the German nursing council.
