Video: Create a Value Driver Tree

Value driver trees help with planning tasks, such as budgeting and forecasting. In this video tutorial, you'll create a value driver tree tree to project the sales of apparel and footwear products over the next several years.

  1. [0:45] Create a new value driver tree by selecting in the Value Driver Tree page, or selecting Start of the navigation path Main Menu Next navigation step  Create Next navigation step Process Next navigation step Value Driver TreeEnd of the navigation path.

    Specify the name and base model for the value driver tree, and set the start and end dates.

  2. [1:31] Select the Calculation tab to add nodes to the value driver tree. Start by adding a data source node to bring in growth rate data from the model.

  3. [2:40] Add a YoY (year over year) node that uses the growth rate data as a driver.
  4. [4:22] Add another data source node and YoY node, and then create a union node to add the two YoY nodes together.
  5. [5:25] Copy nodes from the Calculation tab to the Consumption tab to configure the value driver tree for presentation in stories.
  6. [6:35] Open the Simulation panel to calculate the value driver tree, and use the Examine view to show the results of the simulation in a table.
  7. [7:12] To work with the value driver tree in a story, open a canvas page and select Start of the navigation path Add Next navigation step Value Driver TreeEnd of the navigation path.
