How to Show More Hierarchy Levels in Your Table

Expand your table's hierarchical data to specific levels for one or more dimensions.

Your data is usually loaded into a table with the hierarchies collapsed.

To show more levels, do one of the following:

Note

There are times when the system is retrieving data that it can't determine the actual number of levels in a hierarchy. In those situations, the drill menu will show five levels, even if there are fewer than five levels in your hierarchy.

If you have more than five levels, you can use the drill menu to expand your hierarchy to Level 5 and then use the expand arrows in the table to expand the remaining levels.

  • Expand from a member cell: select the expand arrow to show another level of data.

    Tip

The expand/collapse arrow is always left-aligned for columns. This means that if you have very wide columns with short texts, there may be a large gap between the arrow and the heading.

  • Expand all members that are at the same level.

To expand the hierarchy, right-click a dimension header, select Drill, and then select the level that you want to expand to (drill to).

  • Set a drill level for the table.

    1. Select Start of the navigation path Next navigation step DrillEnd of the navigation path.

    2. In the dialog that appears, select a Dimension and a Drill Level.

    3. Select Set.
