Display Dimension Information or Labels in a Chart

You can show the dimension Description, ID, or ID and Description in a chart, or you can show dimension values in a bubble or scatterplot chart.

In a chart, you can display additional dimension details:

  • You can show the dimension information (description or ID) in your chart.

  • If you have a bubble or scatterplot chart, you can show the dimension values on the data points.

How to Display Dimension Information in a Chart

  1. Select a chart.

  2. In the Designer, open Builder.

  3. Move your cursor to the desired dimension label and then click Start of the navigation path Next navigation step  Display AsEnd of the navigation path.

  4. Select one of the options:

    • Description

    • ID

    • ID and Description

Note

When you change how the dimension information is displayed, the corresponding axis label, legend, or tooltip is updated. The updated display will persist even if you change the chart type.

Note

If you remove the dimension from the chart, the information display will revert to its default setting.

How to Display Dimension Labels in a Bubble or Scatterplot Chart

  1. Select the bubble or scatterplot chart.

  2. From the chart action menu (), select Start of the navigation pathShow/Hide Next navigation step Dimension LabelsEnd of the navigation path.

Note

If the labels overlap, some of the labels will be hidden.

If you adjust the scale of the chart, that will impact the space that is available for the labels.

Note

If you show both the dimension labels and the data labels, the displayed information will show <dimension value>(<size, measure value>).
