Booking Behavior

You can select amongst two booking behaviors to decide how values are processed: Distribute Values, or Book to Unassigned.

Distributing values means that the application assigns and spreads values across all levels available within the hierarchy. Visually, within a table, values are distributed within each level of the default hiearchy in stories.

If values are booked to unassigned, the application creates an unassigned member in which all values are distributed. Visually, within a table, values are distributed under an # member in stories. You can also see this in the Modeler when switching to the grid view where "#" members are added to each property of the dimension, as illustrated in the image below. Note that for each property set with the day granularity, the member is shown as empty with no value.

If you delete the unassigned member, values are then automatically distributed.

For more information about the booking behavior, check out Disaggregation of Values During Data Entry.

Member Management

If the date dimension is user-managed, you can edit its members just like you would with any other generic dimension, and add additional members to the dimension both forward and backward in time using the Generate Additional Members option. It's also possible to add, edit and delete members manually within the grid view.
