Working with the Member Selector of the Variable Dialog

There are several options you can use in the member selector of the variable dialog.

Selecting either Unbooked or Booked Members

You can enter values either by writing them directly into the field or by selecting them from the member selector.

If you use the member selector, you will see booked values only. To select your unbooked members, turn the following feature on: Show unbooked members.

The members will stay selected when you turn the feature off, but they will not be displayed in your results.

Unbooked Members and SAP BW

To use the unbooked members feature with SAP BW, you will need to apply the following additional SAP notes:

Note

When you open the story, the Show unbooked members toggle may not be set as you left it: the system may have reset it.

Use query-defined member access: when you are connected to an SAP BW live model, the read mode for the data is determined by the model. The toggle lets you choose whether to use the read mode settings or the unbooked members setting.

Attributes in the Member Selector

Attributes help you find the members you want to select as variable values.

In the variable dialog, click (Value Help) to open the member selector. There you can select several attributes, for example region or country. Selecting these attributes adds columns with the corresponding information about the members into a table.

Select the members from the table that you want to use as variables in your story.

Note

To use this feature with SAP BW, you need to have version SAP BW 7.50 and apply the following SAP Notes:
