Import Currency Conversion Data

Instead of copying and pasting currency data into a currency conversion table, you can import currency data from supported data sources, and schedule updating of the currency data.

Create a New Currency Table to Import Currency Data

  1. From the Modeler start page, go to the Currency Conversions tab and select Currency Conversion Table.
  2. Provide a name for your table, and select Create.
  3. Save the empty table.
  4. Switch back to the Currency Conversion tab, and select the check box beside the empty table.
  5. Select Import Data.
  6. Choose one of the supported data sources; for example, Google Drive.
  7. Select the target currency table, and choose a file or data source to import the currency data from.

For SAP BW, the Build SAP BW Query dialog appears. You'll need to include the Source Currency, Target Currency, Valid From Date, and Exchange Rate columns to import data into a currency table.

  8. Select OK or Create to import the data.

The imported data appears in the data integration view, where you can map the imported columns to the currency conversion attributes: Source Currency, Target Currency, and so on.

  9. If necessary, you can also cleanse and prepare your currency data. For details, see Import and Prepare Fact Data for a Classic Account Model and Import and Prepare Fact Data for a Model with Measures.
  10. When your currency conversion table is finished, select Finish Mapping.

The new table appears in the list on the Currency Conversion tab.

Import Currency Conversion Table From SAP BPC

Note
Scheduling an import job from a rate table isn't supported by SAP BPC.
  1. From the Modeler start page, go to the Currency Conversions tab and select From an SAP BPC Import.
  2. Choose a BPC connection type, and select a BPC system from the list of connections. You can choose from the following connection types:
    • SAP BPC for SAP BW/4HANA
    • SAP BPC 10.1 for Microsoft platform
    • SAP BPC 10.1 for SAP NetWeaver
    Note
You can create a new connection on the fly by selecting Create New Connection and following the instructions in Import Data Connection to an SAP BPC System.
  3. When importing a currency table from BPC, you are now only allowed to create a new query. The option Create a new query is selected by default. Select Next.
  4. Enter a name and description for the currency conversion table and choose Next.
  5. Specify the source BPC rate model by choosing the environment and model. Then name the query, and choose Next.
  6. In the Data Selection page, filter the source BPC dimension members to be imported for each dimension, and choose Next.
  7. In the Member Mapping page, map the source BPC rate account members and category members to the corresponding SAP Analytics Cloud rate type and version members, respectively.
  8. When you've finished mapping, select Finish.

The new conversion table is created. Save the table, and view it in the list on the Currency Conversion tab.
