Create Level-Based Hierarchies in Datasets

Use level-based hierarchies when your data is organized into levels, such as Product Category, Product Group, and Product. When the data is displayed in a story, hierarchies can be expanded or collapsed.

Context

You can create a level-based hierarchy when you're working on a story based on a dataset, or when you're working directly on a dataset.

Procedure

To create a level-based hierarchy while working on a story

  1. Open or create a story.
  2. Use the Story/Data control to choose the Data view.
  3. Choose the Grid View () from the toolbar.
  4. In the toolbar, select (Level Based Hierarchy).
  5. Type a name for the hierarchy.
  6. Select columns to build your hierarchy.
You can drag the column tokens to change the order of the levels.

  7. Select OK when finished.
The hierarchy appears in the Dataset Overview panel, in the Output list. Here, you can edit and delete your hierarchies.
