Optimize Your Story's Performance

There are a few things that you can do to optimize your SAP Analytics Cloud story's performance, both for you and for anyone who uses the story, including reducing the number of queries or providing an optimized viewing experience.

For information on optimizing story performance, see one of the following topics.

Features that Won't be Supported in Optimized View Mode

Some features won't be available when the story has Optimized View Mode enabled. The story designer will need to change or remove these features before they can use optimized view mode.

Optimizing Story Building Performance

By default, every builder panel modification to tables or charts sends a query to the server, resulting in an immediate update to the table or chart. For example, when adding or removing a dimension or measure, you need to wait for the chart or table to be updated before making another change. Depending on the size of the model, the response time can be slow, and this can put a heavy load on the server.

To reduce the number of queries being sent, open your model and do the following:
  1. Select (Model Preferences)

  2. In the Model Preferences dialog, select Data and Performance.

  3. Enable Optimize Story Building Performance.

After the optimization option is enabled, modified charts or tables are not immediately updated. When you are satisfied with your changes, click the refresh button in the panel or the gray overlay around the panel. The query is processed and the table or chart is updated accordingly.
