Linking to Another Page, Story, or External URL

You can add a hyperlink to another story or page, or to an external URL.

Context

You can add multiple hyperlinks to a chart tile: for example, you can have a hyperlink in the chart title and a different hyperlink for a data point.

However, all the other tiles, including tables can have only one hyperlink per tile.

    External URL

    Enter an external URL.

    • Optional: Under External URL, select one or more dimensions from the list that appears, to insert the dimensions into the URL. The dimension will be used as a filter on the destination.

If you want to pass an ID instead of a description, select a dimension and then select one of the options: Description, ID, or ID and Description.

    • Optional: Under Label, enter a label for the URL, or from the list, select a dimension to use as a label. The label will be displayed instead of the full URL.

If you want the destination page or URL to open in a new browser tab, select the Open in New Tab check box.
    Note
If the link destination is another page in the same story, the application will switch to the destination page within the same browser window when the hyperlink is followed.
    Page
Select a page to link to:
    • First Page
    • Next Page
    • Previous Page
    • Last Page
    • Specific Page: Choose a page from the list that appears.

Select Apply selected dimension as a filter, to use selected dimensions as a temporary filter on the destination page.

Select Cascading Effect, to enable changes you make to the filter to affect all related filters in the same page. For more information, see Story and Page Filters.

Select a story from the list, and then select a page in the story to link to.

If you want the destination page or URL to open in a new browser tab, select the Open in New Tab check box.

If the link destination is another page in the same story, the application will switch to the destination page within the same browser window when the hyperlink is followed.

Select Apply selected dimension as a filter, to use selected dimensions as a temporary story filter in the destination story. To return to the hyperlink's source page and remove the temporary story filter, select the filter and then select Go Back to Previous Page.
