Plan and Analyze Using Value Driver Trees

In SAP Analytics Cloud, value driver trees include several functions to help you simulate scenarios and quickly navigate your data.

Data Entry

To quickly simulate different scenarios and see how individual value changes affect the overall scenario, you can enter data directly in a value driver tree based on a planning model.

Select a value to change it. A keypad lets you enter a new value, or change the existing value using a slider or a mathematical function. The new value is entered to the model, and the rest of the value driver tree updates to show the effects of your change.

To undo or redo data changes, you can open the Version Management panel from a table showing the same model. For more information, see Undo, Redo, and Revert Changes to Versions.

Note

Data entry won't be available when there's an advanced filter on the version dimension. For details about this type of filter, see Advanced Filtering.

Navigation

To navigate the tree, click and drag within the tile and use the mouse wheel to zoom. You can also right-click and enable Center View () to center on nodes as you select them.

To find individual nodes, there’s a search button in the upper right corner.

If you want to hide nodes that you don’t need, right-click a node and select Collapse Node to hide its descendants. Use the right arrow that appears next to the node to expand it again ().

A map of the value driver tree is displayed in the lower-left corner by default, and you can drag the selected area in the map or use the zoom buttons to change the view of the value driver tree, or you can select Fit to Screen to show all nodes in the tile. You can also hide the map or drag it to reposition it on the tile.

Viewing Node Data in a Table
You might want to show node data in a table too, for example to use different planning tools for data entry. Follow these steps to set up the table.
  1. Add the table and filter the measures, accounts or cross calculations dimensions to the same measures, accounts or cross calculations that the node shows.
  2. If the node has any other filters, create the same filters for your table.
  3. Add the account, measure and cross calculations dimensions to the rows of the table, and add the presentation date dimension to the columns.
  4. Remove any other dimensions from the table’s rows and columns, including the version dimension.
