Setting Variables in the Variable Dialog Using the Clipboard

Import values, such as IDs from an Excel file, via copy and paste.

You want to add variables to your story and have listed IDs of variables or value ranges in an Excel file beforehand. Now you would like to import the IDs to SAP Analytics Cloud.

Importing Values from Excel to the Clipboard

  1. Open the variable dialog with (Edit Prompts) and click (Clipboard).

  2. Mark the complete list with IDs in your Excel file and copy them. Paste the IDs into the clipboard.

  3. Click OK. You will see the variables listed in the variable dialog.

Note

If your list contains invalid IDs, they will not be imported.

Importing Range Values from Excel to the Clipboard
You can also import value ranges from an Excel file.

  1. Open the variable dialog with (Edit Prompts) and click (Clipboard).

  2. Mark the cells in your Excel file that you would like to import. Copy and paste the values into the clipboard.

    Note

    The individual values need to be separated with commas or semicolons.

  3. Click OK. You will see the ranges displayed in the variable dialog.
