Transforming Legacy Value Driver Trees

You can transform a legacy value driver tree into a value driver tree (VDT) widget so that you can work on it in your story and use newer features.

Context

The legacy value driver tree will still be available in the Start of the navigation path Next navigation step Browse Next navigation step Processes Next navigation step Value Driver TreeEnd of the navigation path area after transformation.

There are a few things to consider when transforming a value driver tree:

  • Calculations from year over year, simple calculation, and union nodes are not included in the transformation process. The nodes themselves are included, and you can use them to display calculated measures from your story instead.

  • For year over year and simple calculation nodes, the output account will become the node’s measure after transformation. Union nodes won’t have a measure, though.

  • Only nodes shown in the Consumption view (that is, the nodes that appear in the story) will be copied to the new value driver tree.

Procedure

  1. In a story, add the value driver tree that you want to transform.
    1. On a canvas or responsive page in story, select Start of the navigation path Next navigation step Value Driver TreeEnd of the navigation path.
    2. Select Display existing Value Driver Tree and choose the value driver tree that you want to transform.
  2. In the Builder panel, select Transform.

A new value driver tree widget is added to the page based on your legacy value driver tree.
