Exporting Data to SAP S/4HANA

You can export transaction data in a model directly back to an S/4HANA system once you've done planning in SAP Analytics Cloud. You can export the data once, or on a recurring schedule.

Prerequisites

You are using a supported version of SAP S/4HANA. For more information, see System Requirements and Technical Prerequisites.

If you want to export your quantity-related data to S/4HANA's quantity measure, make sure your target SAP S/4HANA is version 1911 or higher.

Context

Make sure the date dimension of the SAP Analytics Cloud model to be exported has either Month or Year granularity.

Make sure the SAP Analytics Cloud model has fiscal year settings turned on. Its date dimension will be mapped to S/4HANA's fiscal year or fiscal year period field by default.

The roles assigned to you must include the following permissions:

  • Execute action of Other Datasources
  • Read action of the model to be exported
  • Create or Maintain action of a connection; Or Read access to a shared connection created by others

Procedure

  1. Select Start of the navigation path (Main Menu) Next navigation step  Browse Next navigation step  FilesEnd of the navigation path
  2. Open the planning type model whose transaction data you want to export.
  3. Switch to the Data Management screen.
  4. In the Export Jobs area, choose the (Export) button and select Export Data to SAP S/4HANA.
  5. Choose a connection.
If no connections have been created, you can choose Create New Connection from the drop-down list. For detailed information, see Import Data Connection to SAP S/4HANA.
    Note

It can happen that even with an existing connection, the connection doesn't seem to be available. In this case, the SAPCP Cloud Connector is not configured. Please refer to Configuring the SAPCP Cloud Connector for more information on how to set up your connections. Particularly pay attention to step 11.

    Click Next.

  6. On the left side of the Target Data Selection dialog, select the target fields in the S/4HANA system that you want to export data to.
If the target S/4HANA application is Activity Type Plan Cost Rates - ACCOSTRATE or Statistical Key Figures – FINSSKF, follow the instructions in Exporting Data from SAP Analytics Cloud to SAP S/4HANA Cloud.

If the target S/4HANA application is Planning - ACDOCP, make sure you select all the mandatory fields (referred to by ID) below:

    • PlanningCategory
      Note
Each time you can only export Planning Categories of the same Category Usage.
    • Time (Fiscal Year Period/Ledger Fiscal Year)
    • G/L Account
    • Organization, such as CompanyCode, ControllingArea, and so on.
    • Measure and Unit (If the measure is currency, you must choose a corresponding currency unit, namely, AmountInCompanyCodeCurrency + CompanyCodeCurrency/ AmountInTransactionCurrency + TransactionCurrency/ AmountInGlobalCurrency + GlobalCurrency)
      Note
You can select only one pair consisting of a measure and its units to export. The unit can be a currency unit or a quantity unit or both, depending on your needs. For example, if you want to export the quantities of goods that are measured by the kilogram in US dollar and quantities that are measured by the ounce in pounds sterling, then you can choose a quantity-related measure, together with a quantity-unit field and a currency-unit field.
      Note
Whether you select the global or local currency measure depends on the currency conversion settings of the model to be exported:

      1. When currency conversion is turned on in the model Preference settings, even if you specify the model default currency as well, the model default currency is irrelevant during data export.
      2. If the source dimension is a generic Source Currency dimension, we recommend that you choose S/4HANA's TransactionCurrency to export data to.
      3. If the source dimension is an Organization dimension, we recommend that you choose S/4HANA's CompanyCodeCurrency to export data to.

      1. When a generic currency dimension isn't defined, all planning data you enter is calculated based on the model's default global currency. This can be compared to the S/4HANA global currency, but not applied to the transaction currency or local currency.
      2. In this case, the currency dimension should have already been mapped to S/4HANA fields during data import.
  7. Click Next.
On the Mapping page, map SAP Analytics Cloud dimensions and measures to the corresponding S/4HANA fields you selected in the previous step.
    Note
For any target S/4HANA field, if you have no source dimension to map data to and choose the option Not Mapped, you need to specify a default value for the target field.
    Note
If the S/4HANA field names aren't the same as the column names in your SAP Analytics Cloud model, you can create an extra property column, with names that match the names in S/4HANA. Then when you export the data, you can map the new property column to the S/4HANA fields.
    Mapping Tips:

You can map an SAP Analytics Cloud version to more than one S/4HANA category.

  8. In the Source Filters area, filter members of the SAP Analytics Cloud dimensions that you want to export. If you choose a single base member, only that value will be exported; if you specify more than one member or a parent member, the value will be aggregated during the export; if left empty, all the data in the dimension will be aggregated.
  9. Select the Export blank values check box if you want to include in the export any members where the name given by the property column is blank.
If you select this check box, also choose what you want to replace the names of those members with from the Replace with field.
  10. Choose Next to define the scope of the export.
The default replace scope is initially selected by default. You can deselect any default S/4HANA fields or add new fields into the scope.
    Note

These fields (referred to by ID) are mandatory in the replace scope:

    • PlanningCategory
    • Ledger, if already selected as a target field and displayed for selection here
    • FiscalYearPeriod or LedgerFiscalYear, depending on which one was selected as a target field
    • ControllingArea or CompanyCode, depending on which one was selected as a target field
  11. Click Finish to complete the export.
You can continue to work on other tasks while the export runs in the background.
  12. If you want to schedule the execution of export jobs, follow these steps:
    1. Select an export job.
    2. Select (Schedule Settings), and choose between the following options:
      Frequency Description
None Select this option when you want to export the data manually.
Once The export is performed only once, at a preselected time.
Repeating The export is executed according to a recurrence pattern. You can select a start and end date and time as well as a recurrence pattern.
    3. Select Save to save your scheduling settings.
