Definition

A search variant saves the search criteria of a search query. Each application that defines and configures a search component can determine whether the system can save search variants for this search component.

Use

You can use a search variant to make search criteria available that you have selected on a search screen to repeat the same search. Users can make their own user-specific search variants available by saving their search variants. Users can delete their own search variants in the application at any time.

Structure

The system saves a search variant as a search string with the following structure:

  • The selected search attribute

  • The content of the corresponding search input fields (single values or value areas)

  • Logical operators that relate the search value to the selected search attributes.

Integration

An application-specific user interface is provided by the application for the adminstration of search variants.
