A search variant saves the search criteria of a search query. Each application that defines and configures a search component can determine whether the system can save search variants for this search component.
You can use a search variant to make search criteria available that you have selected on a search screen to repeat the same search. Users can make their own user-specific search variants available by saving their search variants. Users can delete their own search variants in the application at any time.
The system saves a search variant as a search string with the following structure:
The selected search attribute
The content of the corresponding search input fields (single values or value areas)
Logical operators that relate the search value to the selected search attributes.
An application-specific user interface is provided by the application for the adminstration of search variants.
