Connector Framework Architectural Context

The illustration below shows the connector framework as an integral part of its architectural context, including its relationship to other components residing on the WebAS. JCA-compliant connectors are deployed on the WebAS and connections to data sources can be conveniently obtained using portal connector gateway service (if the target data source is part of the portal system landscape), or, if desired, using the connector framework API to create a connection factory.
