Defining Invisible Navigation NodesLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

There are portal objects that do not need to be displayed in the standard navigation iViews (top-level navigation and detailed navigation), but do need to be accessed during certain types of navigation. Content that is not relevant to certain roles, but is part of a larger entity, can be made invisible in the navigation iViews.

Procedure

Role Editor

  • In the Role Editor, in the Visible column, clear the checkbox of the object that you want to be invisible in navigation.

In the Navigation Structure Preview area, the object is removed from the structure.

Property Editor

You set the Invisible in Navigation Areas property at the page level.

  1. In the Properties editor, from the Show Category dropdown list, select Navigation .

  2. Choose Modify Properties to activate the editor.

  3. Set the Invisible in Navigation Areas property:

    • Selected: The object is not seen in the navigation iViews.

    • Deselected: The object is seen in the navigation iViews.

Example

When running a wizard, you need to see each page of the wizard to create your object. However, there is no need for anyone to access any individual page in a wizard when navigating from the navigation panel. The individual pages can be set to invisible so that they are not seen separately in the navigation iViews. They can, however, be accessed when running the wizard to create an object.
