Creating a Single System TrackLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

The regular development track consists by default of at least two systems, development (DEV) and consolidation (CONS). Each time you want to transport the developed software between the DEV and the CONS system, there is an automatic build procedure that must happen once in the DEV system, and a rebuild that must happen in the CONS system.

For some landscapes, it makes sense to have only one single system and to get the developed software out of it directly, without needing to transport it to a CONS system. With the single system track, you can create such a kind of development track, thereby significantly reducing the time needed to obtain the software for your customers. You create a single system track with only a DEV system on it and use this DEV system to activate, release and to directly assemble the software in an SCA file.

To create such a development track, you can either create the system from scratch, or you edit an already existing development track to become a single system track.

Caution

If you change an already existing track to become a single system track, all other systems of this track (cons, test, production) are removed. There is no way to restore the track configuration once you switch the development track to a single system track.

Note that you cannot perform consolidation with a single system track since all activated changes are assembled.

Caution

When you work in a single system track, you should always release your activated changes directly after their activation. Everything that is activated gets directly assembled, so you must remember to release your changes immediately after the activation.

Prerequisites

You have configured a domain. Applications SLD, DTR, and CBS have been started and can be accessed.

You are in the Landscape Configurator in Change Management Service (CMS) Web UI on the Track Data screen.

You are familiar with setting up a regular development track. For more information, see Creating a Development Track .

Procedure

To create a single system track:

  1. Choose New . All input fields are now empty and ready for you to enter data. Default URLs are entered for DTR and CBS.

  2. Set up the track as you would do for a regular development track.

  3. Before saving the new track, activate the Development System only checkbox.

Once you have activated this option you cannot add any other systems to this track (that is CONS, TEST, PROD).

  4. Save the track.
