Posting Number Ranges
In this step, you define
number ranges for activities in Controlling and assign the
activities relevant to actual postings to a
number range group.
Prerequisites
- You must have a system authorization for
number range maintenance (authorization object
S_NUMBER).
- You must have created the

You define the document number ranges in CO
independently of the fiscal year.
Recommendation
We recommend that you create separate number
range groups for plan and actual activities, so that you can reset the number
ranges separately when running reorganization programs which run separately
for plan and actual data.
Activities
1. Check
whether the standard settings for controlling area "0001" are sufficient for
your requirements.
If you are not
working with controlling area "0001", you can use the "Copy" function
to copy the number ranges to your controlling area.
2. Create any
new number range groups you need.
3. Maintain the
number intervals for the number range groups you have created.
Make sure that the number intervals do not overlap with other
groups.
4. Assign the
activities you want to use to number range groups.
