Foreign Currency Valuations of Balances: Entering Exchange Rates 

Use

You want to valuate the balances at the end of the month. Since the EUR/USD exchange rates have changed, you need to enter these changes in the system. There is a table that can be accessed from every FI application component using the same menu path. You access this table in order to enter the new exchange rate at the end of the month.

Procedure

  1. Call up the transaction as follows:

    Accounting ® Financial Accounting ® General Ledger ® Environment ® Current Settings ® Enter Translation Rates

    Transaction Code

  3. Choose Position...
  4. In the dialog box, enter the following data:

    EUR

  6. Choose .
  7. The table is now set to the exchange rates from USD to EUR.

  8. Select the last valid exchange rate and choose .
  9. Enter the following data:

    Enter a higher exchange rate than the previously valid rate

    If for example, the exchange rate from USD to EUR was 1.07910, enter a new rate of 1.08910. During the valuation, the system will determine that the balance on the foreign currency account has a lower EUR value at the month's end than it did at the time of the transaction.

  13. If the request management is activated in your system, a prompt for Customizing requests appears in which you are required to enter the request number for the table change. If so, complete steps 9 through 11. Otherwise, proceed to step 13 of this process.

  15. In the Create request dialog box, enter the text Exchange rate.
  16. Choose .
  17. This returns you to the Prompt for customizing request dialog box.

  18. Choose .
  19. Your change is now saved in the system.

  20. Choose until the overview tree appears.
