Additional Information for Backflushing at the First Reporting Point

The reporting point backflush is designed to facilitate the precise reduction of material consumption and component withdrawal close to production - especially for longer lead times. This type of confirmation corresponds to the milestone confirmation. This means that several activities from the routing are defined as milestones via the control key. The routing is entered in the production version of the material master data. If a run schedule header is created for the material that is produced using this routing, the system automatically transfers the milestones in the routing into the run schedule header where they are known as reporting points.

In the reporting point backflush, all materials that have been withdrawn and consumed between two reporting points are backflushed. In this process, the system reduces the component requirements of the oldest run schedule quantity and determines the costs. The system has been set so that it automatically posts the goods receipt into finished goods inventory when backflushing the last reporting point. This backflushing process enables you to determine work in process, overheads, and variances.
