Define Overhead Keys
In this IMG activity, you maintain overhead keys. You can use overhead keys for individual order calculation or material-related calculation of an overhead percentage rate.
Orders, WBS elements, networks, cost-object identity numbers, base objects:
To determine an overhead percentage rate through the overhead key, you must
- assign a
costing sheet to your order, WBS element, network, base object or
your
cost object-identity number (see IMG activity "
Maintain Costing Sheet ")
- enter in the assigned costing sheet, overheads that use the overhead key field.
Product costing, production orders, process orders, product cost collectors:
To determine an overhead percentage rate using the overhead key, you need to
- assign a
costing sheet to your order or valuation variant for costing.

- enter in the assigned costing sheet, overheads that use the overhead key field.
- assign the overhead key to an overhead group.

- enter the overhead group in the material master record for the material to be produced.
Example
If you want to assign specified orders with a special overhead, proceed as follows:
1. Enter a
value in the "Overhead key" field in in the order master.
2. Assign a
costing sheet that contains overheads with the "Overhead key" field to the
relevant orders
3. Maintain
percentage rates in the overheads for the corresponding values that you
entered in the "Overhead key" fields for the order master.
