Entering Cash Payments 

Use

You now make a cash purchase of office materials, and transfer some of the cash to the bank. The cash journal entries are only posted to the general ledger when you have posted the saved amounts.

Procedure

  1. Call up the transaction as follows:

    Accounting ® Financial Accounting ® General Ledger ® Document Entry ® Cash Journal Posting

  3. Choose Change Cash Journal.
  4. Enter either company code 1000 with cash journal 0002 for Germany, or company code 3000 with cash journal 0003 for North America.
  5. Cash journal 0002 uses currency EUR. You can however also enter incoming and outgoing payments in DEM by choosing cash journal 0001.

  6. Choose .
  7. Enter the following data:

    The opening balance can vary, if cash receipts or cash payments have already occurred. You can also choose the display periods This week or Current period.

  9. Choose the Cash Payments tab.

    To enter a business transaction, use the input help and then choose in the dialog box. In the following dialog box, choose the relevant business transaction, and then choose .

  18. Select the business transaction Cash purchase of office materials, then choose to copy the business transaction.
  19. Choose .
  20. Choose Save.
  21. The cash journal entries have now been saved locally and the balances updated. The system automatically assigns document numbers to the business transactions.

  22. Select the business transaction Cash purchase of office materials, then choose Receipt.
  23. You see the print preview of the receipt confirmation.

  24. Choose .
  25. The cash journal entries have still not been updated to the general ledger.

  26. Choose Post.
  27. Select the business transaction Cash purchase of office materials, and then choose Follow-on documents.
  28. In the dialog box, choose Accounting document.
  29. The document overview appears.

  30. Choose .
  31. To close the dialog box, choose .
  32. Remain on the Cash Journal screen.
