Define Profiles
for Workforce Planning
In this work step you create profiles, in which
you store settings for workforce planning.
The data from the profile are used on the
initial screen for workforce planning. You can, however, change them for the
current session. Apart from the planning period, you can also change the
settings in workforce planning itself.
Standard
Settings
A standard profile is not delivered.
Activities
1. Create a new
profile by choosing New entries or copy an existing
profile and then change this profile.
2. Enter the
required settings for the profile. Some of these settings are described here;
you can find further information on the individual indicators in the field
help.
Decide on the
Date type and then enter a start and finish date in
the relevant format.
For instance if you
select as the date type Number of calendarweeks,
entering -4 for the start date and 12 for
the finish date specifies that the planning period starts 4 weeks before the
current date and finished 12 weeks after.
Select a
Period unit for the whole planning period or define a
Period split for the profile with different period
units for short, medium, and long term planning. You have to set the
Mixed period types indicator to use this period split in
workforce planning.
If you want to
create a period split for a profile, select the profile in the overview or
call it up and then select Period split in the
left-hand screen area.
Use the
Other personnel resources indicator to specify that apart from
personnel resources that belong either to the work center or the project team
for the WBS element, other personnel resources can be assigned in workforce
planning.
Specify ranges of
values for the load on personnel resources and the proportion of work that has
been assigned, for which a traffic light of a particular color should be
displayed in Reporting. You can change the color of the light by clicking on
it. You can determine which color lights are displayed by setting the
Display indicator.
1. Save the
profile.
