Configuring the PCD
The PCD has a set of configuration properties that refer to various functional areas, such as: PCD trace, lock service, generic layer, ACL service, transport service, and migration.
The PCD configuration properties are categorized as follows:
Properties that can be modified online.
Changes to these properties take effect immediately, without restarting the server.
To modify configuration properties online, use SAP NetWeaver Administrator. More information: SAP NetWeaver Administrator
Properties that can only be modified offline.
Changes to these properties take effect only after restarting the server.
To modify configuration properties offline, use the AS Java – Config Tool.
Note that you can use the AS Java – Config Tool to modify all properties (including online-modifiable properties), however the server must be restarted for the changes to take effect. More information about the AS Java – Config Tool: Modifying Service, Manager, or Application Properties
