Retrieving Logs from Other SystemsLocate this document in the navigation structure

This procedure describes how to retrieve Read Access Logging (RAL) data from the Raw Database of a client and import it into the Expanded Database.

Prerequisites

  • Read Access Logging must be activated in the client you wish to retrieve RAL data from.

See Enabling Read Access Logging in Current Client

  • An RFC destination from the source client/system to the target client/system (transaction SM59).

Context

Data can be imported from any client/system where RAL is activated. This is achieved using the SRAL_REPLICATION program.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the client you wish to import logging data from other systems into.
  2. Go to transaction SE38.
  3. Enter SRAL_REPLICATION and choose the Execute button (or F8).
  4. Specify values for the various selection parameters.

Note that the RFC Destination specifies a specific client.

The Delete entries after replication setting is enabled by default and cannot be disabled. In other words, all logging data imported will be deleted from the source system.

  5. Choose the (Execute) button.
Alternatively, save as a variant and schedule a background job for it.

Results

The selected Read Access Log data from the specified system (in the Raw Database) is imported into the Expanded Database of the current system.

Example

The following selection parameters are saved as a variant that is run every day. It imports Read Access Log data created in the last 24 hours for the BankAccount logging purpose. Entries in the Expanded Database are not overwritten as data in the source system is deleted after being imported.
