Maintaining Static ProfilesLocate this document in the navigation structure

Prerequisites

  • This procedure requires you to restart SAP NetWeaver Application Server (AS) ABAP. Plan for the required downtime while the AS ABAP restarts.

  • You have configured the required profile parameters.

For more information, see Preparing the Security Audit Log.

Context

Use this procedure to create profiles of security audit filters in the database of SAP NetWeaver Application Server (AS) ABAP. All nodes of a cluster use identical filters for determining which events to record in the audit log. Create profiles for different auditing scenarios. Once activated the AS ABAP loads the profile when the AS ABAP starts. The AS ABAP uses the filters defined in the profiles to write events to the security audit log.

Procedure

  1. Start Security Audit: Administer Audit Profile (transaction SM19).

  2. Enter the name of the profile to maintain in the Displayed profile field.

  3. If you are creating a new audit profile, choose Start of the navigation path Profile Next navigation step Create End of the navigation path. To change an existing profile, choose Start of the navigation path Profile Next navigation step Display <-> Change End of the navigation path.

    Note

To display an existing profile before changing it, choose Start of the navigation path Profile Next navigation step Display. End of the navigation path

The lower section of the screen contains tab pages for defining filters. The number of tab pages correspond to the value of the profile parameter rsau/selection_slots. Within each tab page, you define a single filter.

  4. Define filters for your profile.

For more information, see Defining Filters.

  5. Set the Filter active indicator for each of filter you want to apply to your audit.

  6. Save your entries.

  7. Activate the profile.

To activate the profile, choose Start of the navigation path Profile Next navigation step Activate End of the navigation path.

  8. Restart the application server.

Results

The filters you defined are saved in the audit profile. If you activate the profile and restart the AS ABAP, the system records actions that match any of the active filter events in the security audit log.
