DB2: Deleting Log Files

Use

You must manually delete log files if you did not choose the automatic deletion option, for archiving log files.

Prerequisites

The following procedure is for Ready-to-Run systems.

Procedure

  1. Open Control Center by choosing Start ® Programs ® DB2 for Windows NT ® Administration Tools ® Control Center.
  2. Choose the system, instance (DB2<sid>), and database (<sid>).
  3. Click the right mouse button.
  4.

  5. Choose Logfile Management ® Clean Up.

If you are not logged on as db2<sid>, a dialog box appears. Enter the password for db2<sid>.

  1. Select the field Archived. The system displays a list of all log files to be deleted. Select the last file in the list. To delete the last file and all previous files from the list, click Clean Up.
  2. Close Logfile Management.
  3. Check if the files have been deleted successfully. To do this, open the Control Center as described above (steps 1 - 3). Choose the Journal tab and then Clean up . Then double-click the line for which you want to see the information.

Ready-to-Run Systems

In addition to backing up log files using the CCMS Planning calendar, extensions were added in the Control Center for Ready-to-Run. Among these, log file management functions were added.
