An index KPI (key performance indicator) is a named aspect of the company strategy that is composed of standard KPIs.

The progress of an index KPI is determined by analyzing the performance of the standard KPIs associated with the index KPI. I list.

Use index KPIs to measure the status and progress toward strategic objectives.

Structure

An index KPI has the following structure:

  • An identifying name

  • A status indicator

The color of the status indicator represents the performance of this KPI. A better performance is represented by green, an average score is represented by yellow, and a poor score is represented by red.

  • A description

  • Associated links (optional)

  • A perspective associated with this index KPI

  • A calculation method performed on the scores of the standard KPIs selected for this index KPI

The resulting value form the calculation is matched to a color in the Index Values section and the index KPI takes that status color.

  • The list of standard KPIs that are selected for this index KPI

The statuses of these KPIs are used along with the calculation method to determine the status of the index KPI.

The index KPI's status color is determined as follows: the status color of each standard KPI is matched to the same color in the Index Values list which appears in the Index KPI Details view. Based on the color match, each standard KPI is assigned that index value. The index values are then used in the specified calculation. The resulting value from the calculation is matched to the appropriate color in the Index Values list. The resulting color is used for the index KPI's status indicator.

Index KPIs to do not have trend indicators because they are not measured by a gap performance value.

Integration

Index KPIs appear in the following areas of the application:

  • The Scorecard Overviews view in the Scorecard component shows the index KPIs in the context if you are viewing a layout that includes KPIs.

  • The Scorecard Comparison view in the Scorecard component shows KPIs in one context compared to the KPIs in other contexts.

  • The Objective Details screen shows the index KPIs associated with an objective in the Scorecard component.

  • The My Performance Summary section of the Home component allows you to monitor the status of selected index KPIs.

  • Initiative authors can set a status of an initiative based on the status of a KPI in the Initiatives component.

  • You can see the index KPIs associated with an objective when you click on the objective in the Strategy component.
