The Entry and Approval component of SAP BusinessObjects Strategy Management streamlines the process of populating metrics, reduces the amount of time spent on metrics collection, and alleviates costly errors through a system of workflow steps. It allows organizations to collect metrics without needing to integrate transactional systems or establish a data warehouse for just one or two metrics.

Entry and Approval has a single interface for the collection, entry, approval and publishing of metrics.

The Entry and Approval main window shows the progress to date on all metric data being collected for the selected model, and provides an entry point to users entering or approving data. You can see which step is active, who owns it, and where it is in the workflow process.

For Entry and Approval administrators, the main window also gives access to creating and editing metrics sets, releasing metric sets, updating defaults for the model, and loading the PAS model.

Features

Depending on the settings defined by the Entry and Approval administrator and the workflow steps you are assigned to, you can do some or all of the following in Entry and Approval:

  • Data Entry users, reviewers, and approvers can enter actual and current-period target data, historical information, and future target data.

Any metric sets assigned to you are listed in the My Metric Sets table. All Metric Sets shows every metric set that has been created by the Entry and Approval administrator for the current period, including those assigned to other users.

  • Approvers can review and approve or reject entered data by clicking the yellow arrow on the active step and displaying the Approval screen.

  • Any user can open an Approval Log, showing the full audit trail of the selected metric set, by clicking Approval Log. The log captures detailed user interactions, including time stamps for approval, rejection and uploading of metrics.

  • Entry and Approval administrators who are assigned to metric sets and workflow steps can also enter data, and approve or reject as dictated by the particular step.

  • Entry and Approval administrators can create and maintain metric sets, release metric sets, set Entry and Approval defaults, load data into the PAS model and monitor the overall data collection effort for the PAS model for each period.

The administrator of Interactive Publisher can access Entry and Approval from the Administrator.
