Function documentation Mobile User Management for System Administrators Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

System administrators can access important user administration functions via a mobile telephone with WAP capability, for example, when they are temporarily away from their system environment. These functions exist to support users that have system logon and authorization problems (forgotten password, user locked due to excessive incorrect passwords entered, user validity period expired). The functions include:

·        Displaying user data

·        Locking and unlocking users

·        Resetting passwords

·        Creating and changing users

Note

Mobile user management is not intended as a replacement for the Web application Maintaining Users.

Integration

All functions are created in such a way so as to require as little user interaction as possible. They are easy to use and sensitive data is protected from unauthorized access.

Prerequisites

Users that want to carry out user administration via a mobile telephone have to be assigned either the system administrator role (SAP_EC_BBP_ADMINISTRATOR) or a role containing the MiniApp WAPBBPUSER.

Features

Displaying User Data

This function displays user name and validity period, lock status, e-mail address, telephone number and role assignment (amongst other data).

Resetting Passwords

Where it is not possible to reset a forgotten password via Internet Customer Self Service and workflow, this function generates a new password and sends this to the user. If no e-mail address exists for the user, the administrator is able to display the password. You can set in Customizing whether passwords are sent out.

Locking/Unlocking Users

You can use this function to change the current lock status: You can lock a valid user or unlock a locked user.

Extending the Validity Period

You can use this function to extend the expired validity of a user by seven days (default). In Customizing, you can set the time period by which the expired validity of a user is to be extended.

Creating Users

This function creates a user with standard data for organizational unit, country, and role in accordance with predefined Customizing, and generates a password that the administrator can then display.

Deleting Users

The system opens a dialog box where you then have to confirm deletion of the user.

Changing Role Assignment

Opens a dialog box in which you enter an existing composite or single role and carry out an action on it. You can either add the role to the user master data or remove it.

Note

Following each function that changes data, the system issues a message after execution has been successful.

Activities

1.       On your mobile device, select WAP user administration.

2.       Choose the name of a user that you want to support.

3.       Select a function, for example Extend (or the relevant option in the logon language of your mobile device).

The validity period of the user is extended by the defaulted time period.
