Purpose

Supplier Selection is the process within strategic sourcing of choosing the right supplier for a certain product or material group. A request for quotation is submitted to qualified suppliers and responses are evaluated. In some cases suppliers and buyers or technical engineers might need to collaborate on designing specific products during the sourcing process. Once responses have been evaluated, a contract negotiation phase usually follows.
