System Landscape Management 

Purpose

This process fulfills the prerequisites for using the SAP Solution Manager.

Prerequisites

·        You need authorization for the authorization object S_SMSYEDIT to create the Solution Manager system landscape.

·        To create system components, you need authorization for the authorization object S_SMSYSYST.

·        You have the Authorizations required to be able to define RFC connections in the Solution Manager and satellite systems.

Process Flow

...

       1.      You setup automatic data capture for the system landscape, to read server, database and system data automatically from the System Landscape Directory or the Landscape Information System.

       2.      You define your system landscape in the Solution Manager System Landscape (transaction SMSY):

                            a.      Create systems, or adjust the data for automatically determined systems. The following system details are required, to be able to generate RFC connections to this system:

§         Message server

§         Installation number

                            b.      You generate RFC connections to your systems or assign existing RFC connections to them.

                            c.      Put related systems in logical components, e.g. the evalution, development and test systems for a product, for an implementation project.

Result

You have setup the system landscape for the SAP Solution Manager.

You then create an implementation project, use the Customizing Synchronization, manage change requests (Change Management), or create solutions for operational processing in the transaction SOLUTION_MANAGER.

Assign the logical components to projects or solutions.
