Function documentation Link Lists Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

You provide employees in your enterprise with collections of useful links on various topics.

Prerequisites

You need write permission for the folder in which a link list is located in order to manage a list. If you have the relevant permission, the Organize Entries function link is displayed in the link list.

In the standard delivery, the content of the link list is located, for example, in the folder /documents/Links.

Features

Link lists are displayed in iViews in SAP Enterprise Portal. The standard delivery contains an example of such an iView under Home ® Company ® News.

Link lists differ from the portal favorites list in the following ways:

·        Link lists are normally managed centrally.

·        Links are visible for all users with read permission.

·        Link lists have a different layout to the portal favorites in the standard delivery: If you group links into folders, the folder names are displayed above the links they contain as titles in the iView.

Recommendation

We recommend that you create folders only on the first level directly below the root folder of the link lists.

Activities

In your Enterprise Portal, you typically create different iViews with link lists for the users assigned to different roles. The content of each link list is stored in a separate folder.

The same functions are available for organizing the entries as for the Structure linkportal favorites.

To define the order of the links in the list, activate the Manual Ordering function in the folder settings (see Manual Ordering of Objects).

Example

There are many ways to use link lists. Some examples are:

·        Links on 'Travel Planning’

·        Links on 'Health in the Workplace'

·        Links for project managers

·        Links for design engineers
