Function documentation Storage of Task Logs Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

By default, a log is displayed immediately after a task is executed. You can determine whether this log is to be stored and whether or not it is displayed immediately after the task is executed.

Storing task logs is especially helpful when:

·        Multiple tasks are executed in succession

·        A task is executed in background mode

Prerequisites

You need to run the task in update mode in order to save or suppress the task log (according to your Customizing settings).

Features

Storage of a Log

The system stores the last log executed for each consolidation unit or consolidation group.

If you have several layouts of a task log, the system also stores all of the active layouts.

If you execute two or more methods of a data collection task (for example, flexible upload and copy method), the system stores all logs for these methods.

Access to a Log

The system uses the following logic when you access the last log stored for a consolidation unit or consolidation group in the consolidation monitor:

...

·        The system searches all stored logs of a consolidation unit or consolidation group that reside at the same or lower level of the consolidation unit or consolidation group that is performing the access.

·        The system searches the first stored log of a consolidation unit or consolidation group by searching the various levels from the lowest to the highest level starting at the level of the consolidation unit or consolidation group that is performing the access.

If the system finds more than one log for a consolidation unit or consolidation group, the system lists these logs. You can choose the desired log from this list. The following information is displayed:

·        Consolidation unit or consolidation group for which the log was created

·        Date of storage

·        Time of storage

The following additional information is displayed for data collection tasks:

·        Data stream type

·        Method name

·        File name

·        File location

·        Document type

Activities

Customizing Settings for Storage or Display or a Log

You determine whether the log of a task is stored and/or not displayed in the Customizing settings of each task.

By default, the indicators Save Log and Do Not Display Log are not selected in the log section of the Customizing settings for tasks.

You can set these indicators differently for each version.

Accessing a Log

You can call up a stored log in the consolidation monitor at a later date by placing the cursor on the status symbol and choosing the option Last Log either in the menu or in the context menu.

Deleting a Log

...

       1.      You can delete stored tasks in the process view of the workbench by choosing Consolidation Monitor ® Task.

       2.      On the selection screen, you specify which logs you want to search.

       3.      In the list that appears, you can delete the logs one at a time.
