Function documentation Entry Points Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

Entry points allow you to navigate from an iView to various KM folders that may be located in different repositories. You use entry points in the following places:

·        Entry Points iView

·        Selection screen (for example, when copying or moving items in KM folders)

·        Go To menu in KM navigation iViews

Features

Entry points enable the following functions:

·        Central access

The Entry Points iView offers you a central point of access to KM folders that are located in different repositories. In the standard delivery, the Entry Points iView is located at Home ® Documents.

If the system is set up accordingly, you can access all KM folders that you need for your daily work from this iView. Users only see the folders for which they have permissions in the Entry Points iView.

·        Cross-area navigation

Users can navigate between all areas for which they have permissions in an iView. This means that you can copy or move documents from one repository to another.

Visibility of Entry Points

An entry point is only displayed if you have read permission for its target folder.

An entry point is only displayed if the target folder exists. Some target folders, such as the Common Folders folder, are not contained in the standard delivery. You have to create these folders yourself.

In the Go To menu the entries Favorites and Common Folders are only displayed if they contain subentries.

Examples

The entry points that are actually available in your system depend on the configuration of your system and your permissions.

Examples of Entry Points

Administrators can activate or deactivate the entry points listed in the table. They can also allow the system to generate user-specific entry points dynamically. This causes the system to generate an entry point for the start folder of every KM navigation iView for a user. By default, this function is inactive. For information on configuring entry points, see Structure linkEntry Point Providers.

Note

The list of common folders and the list of start folders for a user remain constant within a session. Changes only become visible when you log on to the portal again.
