compound of characteristics (EC-CS)

Consolidation (EC-CS)

The dependency relationship between two characteristics in which the value of the dependent characteristic is only meaningful when the value of the independent characteristic is known. A compound consists of both the dependent characteristic and the independent characteristic on which the first depends. When dealing with compounds of characteristics, the system ensures that a specific value of the independent characteristic is selected when the dependent characteristic is accessed.

Example:

The characteristic financial statement item is dependent on the characteristic consolidation chart of accounts, and therefore both reflect a compound of characteristics.
