Query, Reporting, and Analysis

With this variant, business experts can use the BEx Query Designer to make queries available. These can be used to analyze BI data in a flexible, user-oriented way.

The queries serve as data providers for Web applications that are created with the BEx Web Application Designer. Web applications can be modified to meet the requirements of different user categories. For example, BI data can be presented in a concise form for information consumers or in complex and interactive applications for business analysts.

Access to BEx Web Applications is provided using the Web browser or in the portal.

Determining the standard Web template for ad-hoc analysis	You can display queries ad hoc from the BEx Query Designer in the Web using the Standard Web Templates for Ad-hoc Analysis (0ADHOC). Here you can also define other Web templates, such as those that also include your company logo, as standard Web templates. You can also change the delivered standard Web templates to suit your needs. Make settings for Web templates	You can set the properties of Web templates for all Web applications in Customizing. You define this setting in the SAP Reference IMG ® SAP Customizing Implementation Guide ® SAP NetWeaver ® Business Intelligence ® Reporting-Relevant Settings ® BEx Web ® Make Settins for Web Templates (Format SAP BW 3.x). Activate personalization in BEx	Personalization in the Business Explorer enables users to fill variables with user-specific entries, to save user-specific accesses to BI objects for the history view in the BEx Open dialog box, and to save user-specific start views for Web applications. You activate personalization in the SAP Reference IMG ® SAP Customizing Implementation Guide ® SAP NetWeaver ® Business Intelligence ® Reporting-Relevant Settings ® General Reporting Settings ® Activate Personalization in BEx. Tasks to Be Performed Multiple Times	Further Information
Assignment of roles in the portal	You assign users roles for working with BI content in the portal. These are managed by the Portal Content Directory (PCD). For more information, see Role Assignment.
Maintenance of the sender-receiver assignment	Under SAP Menu ® Business Explorer ® Query ® Jump Targets, you make the required settings to be able to connect a query to the report-report interface (BBS). For more information, see Editing Sender-Receiver Assignments for the RRI in the BI System.
Administration for Drag&Relate	Users can call other iViews from the portal from iViews with BI content. In order to be able to use Drag&Relate functions, you need to make a number of settings. For more information, see Drag&Relate with BI Content in the Portal.
Set intervals and hierarchies for time characteristics	You can define the time interval for time characteristics that appears in the F4 help for the characteristic values. Generally you make this setting once a year. You also use this function to determine hierarchies for time characteristics that you want to use in reporting. The leaves of the hierarchy are then located in the time interval that you have set. Deletion of query objects	Under SAP-Menu ® Business Explorer ® Query ® Delete Objects, you can delete queries, structures, calculated or restricted key figures. For more information, see Delete Query Objects.
Copying queries between InfoCubes	Under SAP Menu ® Business Explorer ® Query ® Copy, you can copy queries and their subobjects (structures, calculated key figures and restricted key figures) between various InfoCubes. For more information, see Copying Queries Between InfoCubes.
