Source Data Basis
Defines all source data streams for an RFC destination in a central place.
You can assign one or more source data bases to a data basis in order to use this as the source of data (read access only) for methods of the type Load from Data Stream or Flexible Upload.
The Customizing settings of a source data basis is a subset of the customizing settings of a data basis: You define data streams and make settings on the attributes, authorization check, and column headings for the fields of the data streams.
1. The RFC Destination in the SAP Business Information Warehouse (SAP BW) specifies from which system the source data is to be read. If you do not specify an RFC destination, the system uses the SAP BW system that resides in the SEM system.
2.
You can specify one
InfoObject
Catalog for characteristics and key figures. You can use the fields of
this InfoObject catalog in a method of the type Flexible
Upload as a (external) field catalog. By defining suitable mapping
rules of the flexible upload, you can map the fields on the field structure of
the data basis to which you assigned the source data basis. In this way you
can also include data from files with different field structures in the data
basis.
3.
You can also assign
one or more
InfoProviders. You
can use these in a method of the type Load from Data Stream as source
data streams.
You have an InfoCube in system A, which contains financial planning data. You want to use this planning data in system B for consolidation. To do this, proceed as follows:
...
1. Create a source data basis. Enter system A as the RFC Destination. Then under InfoProvider enter your InfoCube with the planning data.
2. Assign this new source data basis to your data basis.
3. Create a Load from Data Stream method and select your system A as the RFC Destination and your InfoCube with the planning data as the InfoProvider. If the structure of the planning data does not match the corresponding fields of your data model, define suitable mapping rules.
4. Execute the new method.
