Definition

In the case of the Web interface for SAP Event Management (SAP EM), a role is a collection of activities that a person executes to share in one or more business scenarios.

The following roles are possible in the Web interface for SAP EM:

     Normal user

     Quick search user

     Web server administrator

     Offline administrator

     PDA user

     User profile administrator

Use

When you use roles, you control business scenario assignments, access to transactions and reports, and the various options with which to send data to SAP EM. The SAP EM Web interface uses a Web browser to offer users a role-based entry point with which to complete their tasks.

Explanations for the table:

User column: You can log on to the Web interface with various roles (for example, normal user).

Logon column: The Web interface offers various logon options:

Logon with the user name and password

No logon and search using the quick search page

Logon with the user name and password for PDA pages

Activities column: This column tells you the pages that the Web interface makes available to each user:

     Event handler list

     Event handler detail page

     Event details page

     Page for sending event messages

     Search page

     Quick search page

     Event message fast entry page

     Admin page

     My List page

     PDA pages

All pages (except for the admin page) are dependent on the user profile. If no user profile is available for a page, the user cannot access the page.

Scenario Assignment column: Depending on the role, a user can be assigned to either no business scenarios, or to one or more business scenarios.

User Settings column: Each user can make individual Web interface settings, irrespective of the settings in the Web interface user profile.

The user can execute the following, for example:

Define the number of rows in the tables

Activate or deactivate automatic data updates

     Define the start page

Define the default setting for displaying the document flow (tabular or graphic)
