Definition

In SAP Business One, there are common fields that appear throughout the entire application. These are code, name, description, address, telephone, date fields and so on. The table below provides a description of the most commonly used fields.

Field

Description/Activity

Code/Name/Number

Displays an alphanumeric value that you predefine in the Setup windows or in Master Data. For example, item, business partner, sales employee, project, territory and so on.

Description

Displays the description of a code or name. For example, if an item number is H4000, the description of it may be Laser Jet 4000 Series .

Address

Displays the address of a company, business partner, contact person, employee, and a warehouse. The address contains up to three address names, the street name or PO Box, block, city, zip code, the county, the state and the country.

In addition, there are Pay to, Ship to, and Bill to addresses. These addresses are further described in the online help.

Telephone Number

Displays up to three telephone numbers. You can enter a telephone number in any convenient format. If you have a modem, the telephone icon appears when you point to the telephone number field. You can dial directly from SAP Business One by pressing CTRL+Tab.

Date

By default, displays the current date. You can define the date format according to your company’s requirements in Administration ® System Initialization ® General Settings ® Display tab.

In addition, there are Delivery, Posting, and Document dates. These dates are further described in the online help.
