A collection of data that lists financial institutions and the related bank identifier codes (BIC) that are eligible for processing payment instructions. The data is transmitted in files that are structured in accordance with the specifications of the data provider.

You use routing directories, also known as routing tables, to upload and manage routing data. Payment Engine uses this data during the routing process to route payment transactions to financial institutions that are eligible to execute payment transactions using a specified clearing system, for example, the STEP2 system of the Euro Banking Association (EBA). The routing directory data also enables Payment Engine to determine whether a financial institution can execute payment transactions under a specific service level, for example, the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA), and for a specific scheme, for example, a SEPA Credit Transfer (SCT).

Structure

A routing directory record contains the following data:

  • UUID

  • Bank identifier code (BIC)

  • Service level

  • Payment scheme

  • Status of the direct participant

  • Clearing system ID and whether the system is the preferred clearing system of the financial institution for receiving payment instructions

  • Reachable type

  • Settlement BIC

  • Admission profile

  • Activation date and deactivation date

  • Record key

The record indicates whether the data has been manually changed.

Integration

You upload routing information from an external file. For more information, see Upload of Referential Data. The system maps the information to a generic data structure defined in Payment Engine. You can access the stored data on the SAP Easy Access screen by choosing   Payment Engine   Referential Data   Routing Directory   Manage Routing Directory Data   (transaction /PE1/MN_ROUTDIR). During the routing process, this data is used to route payment transactions to eligible financial institutions.
