Procedure documentation Configuring SAP NetWeaver AS  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

You must complete all the configuration steps that apply to your newly installed SAP NetWeaver AS ABAP system for Mobile. This topic contains all the steps that you have to perform after installation.

Procedure

...

1. Create an administrator profile

Only an administrator profile for the Data Orchestration Engine allows you to perform all the configuration activities that are listed below.

More information: Creating an Administrator Profile

2. Log on to the SAP NetWeaver Mobile Administrator

All administration-related activities of the DOE are accessible through the SAP NetWeaver Mobile Administrator. The administration activities include configuration of the SAP NetWeaver AS.

More information: Logging on to SAP NetWeaver Mobile Administrator

3. Create an RFC destination to the back end

For the DOE to exchange data with the back end, you must create an RFC destination.

More information: Creating an RFC Destination to the Back End

4. Perform DOE initial setup and configuration

The Data Orchestration Engine (DOE) must be configured if you have installed the SAP NetWeaver AS newly, or you have upgraded the SAP NetWeaver AS to SPS 03.

More information: Ensuring the Activation of Queues

5. Ensure the activation of queues.

Queues in the DOE are created during runtime, or whenever you enable data objects that are to be distributed to the devices. This configuration activity ensures that when the DOE creates the queues, the queues are activated automatically.

More information: Ensuring the Activation of Queues

6. Upload the mobile client archive to the DOE

The mobile client archive contains files that are required by the DOE to create setup/ software packages for the mobile devices. This file is available in the installation DVD and must be uploaded to the DOE.

More information: Uploading Mobile Client Archive to DOE

7. Activate distribution rules in SAP Basis 7.1

The distribution rules of the data objects that are in SAP Basis 7.10 must be activated to ensure that these data object are available for the client devices at runtime.

More information: Activating Distribution Rules in SAP Basis 7.10

8. Configure the ICF Service

SAP NetWeaver Mobile provides a default service called DOE_TIMESERVICE that is needed for using the Time Agent. The Time Agent is used in the Data Orchestration Engine (DOE) and the mobile client for laptops to synchronize the date and time on devices with the date and time in the DOE.

Every time the agent tries to access the ICF service in the SAP NetWeaver AS, the DOE prompts the agent for logon details, like a user name and logon password for the SAP NetWeaver AS. Configuring the ICF service enables the agent to access the ICF service without entering the logon details.

More information: Configuring the ICF Service

9. Configure security parameters in DOE

SAP NetWeaver Mobile classifies security incidents on the mobile client into client-side incidents and non repudiation. For each security incident, you can configure a security level and a severity level. These levels determine the action that the DOE performs when a client reports the security incident.

More information: Configuring Security Parameters in DOE

10. Identify device attributes for registration

When client device users log on to the mobile client for the first time, the client prompts the user for a set of registration parameters. The DOE registers the device with these parameters. By identifying the parameters in the Mobile Receiver Meta Model (RMM), you can determine the parameters that must be used for registration.

More information: Identifying Device Attributes for Registration

11. Obtain the port information

The port information is needed for the mobile client to connect to the DOE.
