With this IT scenario variant, users of client devices can carry out their tasks without a permanent connection to the back-end system. The required applications and data are stored on the client devices. Data is exchanged between the client device and the DOE during synchronization.

You can use various tools and utilities to administer the IT scenario variant. These allow you to manage users, to configure mobile devices, to monitor synchronization, and to monitor your landscape.

Architecture of the Scenario Variant

Numerous client devices can communicate with the back end via the DOE.

SAP NetWeaver Mobile client and the applications exist on the client devices. The usage type Mobile is installed on the SAP NetWeaver AS. Multiple back-end systems can be connected to the SAP NetWeaver AS. On the back end it is possible to install one or more applications.

Required and Optional Installable Units

To use this variant, you require the following installable units:

      Mobile

      Application Server ABAP (AS ABAP)

      Application Server Java (AS-JAVA)

IT Processes of the Scenario Variant

This scenario variant comprises the following IT processes:

Description

Implementing Mobile Scenario

Administrators configure the systems in the landscape and define the data distribution logic.

Executing Device Rollout

Administrators define client devices in the DOE and create setup packages. They then install the setup packages on the devices.

The client device user registers the device on the DOE.

Enabling Runtime and Synchronization

Administrators monitor the data flow in the landscape.

Users of the client devices access the application and change the data. The data is then synchronized.

Realigning Business Data

Administrators update the subscription information and monitor the effect of data realignment.
