With this IT scenario variant, users of client devices can carry out their tasks without a permanent connection to the back-end system. The required applications and data are stored on the client devices. Data is exchanged between the client device and the DOE during synchronization.
You can use various tools and utilities to administer the IT scenario variant. These allow you to manage users, to configure mobile devices, to monitor synchronization, and to monitor your landscape.
The following figure provides an overview of the architecture of the scenario variant:
Numerous client devices can communicate with the back end via the DOE.
SAP NetWeaver Mobile client and the applications exist on the client devices. The usage type Mobile is installed on the SAP NetWeaver AS. Multiple back-end systems can be connected to the SAP NetWeaver AS. On the back end it is possible to install one or more applications.
To use this variant, you require the following installable units:
● Mobile
● Application Server ABAP (AS ABAP)
● Application Server Java (AS-JAVA)
For more information about the required system landscape, see the Master Guide on SAP Service Marketplace at service.sap.com/installnwmobile71.
This scenario variant comprises the following IT processes:
IT Process |
Description |
Administrators configure the systems in the landscape and define the data distribution logic. |
|
Administrators define client devices in the DOE and create setup packages. They then install the setup packages on the devices. The client device user registers the device on the DOE. |
|
Administrators monitor the data flow in the landscape. Users of the client devices access the application and change the data. The data is then synchronized. |
|
Administrators update the subscription information and monitor the effect of data realignment. |
