Procedure documentationSetting Up Proxies

If you are using a central proxy server in your IT landscape, you must set up corresponding proxy clients for the central AS ABAP, the AS Java, and the central TREX for SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search.

Communication through proxies is required for the following scenarios in particular:

  • AS ABAP: OpenSearch connection

  • AS Java: Automatic import of support packages

  • TREX: File server and Web server search

Procedure

Setting Up the ABAP Proxy
  1. Log on to the ABAP system as an administrator.

  2. Launch transaction SICF and choose Execute (F8).

  3. Choose the menu path   Client  Proxy Settings  .

  4. In the dialog box, configure the following settings:

    • Global Settings tab page:

      • Proxy Setting is Active: Select

      • No Proxy Setting for Local Server: Select

      • No Proxies for the Following Adresses: Internal SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search system domain (for example *.nw.es) and domains for your company-internal network (for example *.sap.corp)

    • HTTP Log tab page:

      • Host Name: Fully-qualified host name of the proxy server in your company IT landscape (for example proxy.mylocation.mycompany.com)

      • Port: Port number of the proxy server (for example 8080)

Setting Up the TREX Proxy
  1. On the master blade, log on to the operating system using an SSH tool (for example putty) as <sid>adm.

  2. To start the TREX admin tool, run the following command:

    ~/trexenv.sh <virtual_host_name_of_the_central_TREX_instance> TREXAdmin.sh

    Example Example

    ~/trexenv.sh nestrex00 TREXAdmin.sh

    End of the example.
  3. In the TREX admin tool, navigate to the Preprocessor: Admin screen.

  4. On the Proxy Settings tab page, configure the following settings:

    • Proxy Server: Fully-qualified host name of the proxy server in your company IT landscape

    • Proxy Server Port: Port number of the proxy server

    • Proxy User: User name for access to the proxy server, if available

    • Proxy User Password: User password

    • Proxy Exclusions: Domains in which no crawls are to be run.

      Note Note

Set Proxy Exclusions for all internal URLs because otherwise the HTTP requests try to use the proxy and cannot resolve the host.

Do not use an asterisk (*) at the start of a domain (for example sap.corp;sap-ag.de).

      End of the note.
  5. Save the proxy.
