Background documentationGetting Started – Using the Search Locate this document in the navigation structure

The user interface (UI) for the search provides a central entry point for finding structured and unstructured data in your company from different sources using a single search request.

Structured company data includes business objects (such as materials or sales orders); unstructured data includes documents (such as PDFs or HTML pages).

From the data found, you can go directly to the respective application to display or edit the data or find related objects.

Example Example

If you use a customer name to search, you can perform the following actions, depending on your system configuration:

  • Find the business partner object for this customer and switch directly to the source system to create a sales order.

  • Find and edit this customer's existing sales orders

  • Find and edit documents about this customer.

End of the example.
