This section provides guidelines for SAP NetWeaver developers to create WSRP-compliant content, that is, content that can be deployed to an SAP NetWeaver producer portal and shared with another WSRP-compliant non-SAP consumer portal.

Developers should create portal (PRT) applications when developing WSRP-compliant content. Web Dynpro applications are not supported.

Note Note

This section is not intended for developers generating content to be published by a non-SAP portal producer.

For information on consuming WSRP-compliant portlets from a non-SAP producer portal, see 'WSRP Application Sharing' Mode. This functionality is offered as part of the federated portal network capabilities of SAP NetWeaver.

End of the note.

In order to share content, a non-SAP consumer portal creates a proxy portlet, a kind of gateway, to a SAP NetWeaver iView on the producer, and then grants access to its users to the proxy portlet. When a user on the consumer portal makes a request for the proxy portlet, the proxy portlet in turn makes a request to the NetWeaver producer for the content, which is displayed to the user on the consumer portal.

This graphic is explained in the accompanying text.
