Classifying Object Properties

Property classification lets you organize object properties in categories. Grouping properties into categories streamlines the process of finding and modifying object properties.

1. Navigate to  System Administration  System Configuration  Content Model Management  Property Classification . The Available Categories editor appears.

   Note

   In the current version, only the Basic Properties category is available, allowing you to choose the properties that appear in the initial view of the Properties editor of an object.

2. In the Object Type dropdown list, select the object whose properties you want to classify. Where relevant, you can use the Template dropdown list to further define the object type. The list of categories is displayed, and below that, all properties defined for that object are listed.

   Note

   You can filter the Available Properties list on the left by using the Show button to display All properties, only Mandatory properties or only Editable properties.

3. Use the and buttons in the middle of the screen to compile the list of properties in the Selected Properties list at the right.

4. When your Selected Properties list is complete, choose Save .

5. To continue to classify properties for other portal objects, repeat steps 2 through 4.

When the portal content administrator creates or edits portal objects, the Basic Properties editor is displayed by default, showing only those properties defined in the property classification procedure. To edit the full list of properties for the object, use the All link above the editor.

Synchronizing Templates

You synchronize templates to include newly created templates in the content model. Synchronzation creates the new template in the content model, thereby updating the model with new properties, which it did not previously contain.

1. Navigate to  System Administration  System Configuration  Content Model Management  Template Synchronization . The Template Synchronization editor appears showing all the object templates that have not been created in the content model. All the listed templates are selected for synchronization by default.

   • If the content model is up-to-date, the editor indicates that no synchronization is required.

   • If any templates, which have already been synchronized, are deleted from the PCD, they are listed below the new templates.

2. Choose from the following options:

   • Synchronize All to create all the new templates in the content model, and to delete from the content model templates that no longer exist in the PCD.

   • Deselect All to enable you to select only the templates you want to create, or delete, in the content model

   • Create Templates in the Model to synchronize only the templates you select

   • Delete Templates from the Model to delete only the templates you select

When new templates are synchronized, their properties, which are not common to other templates, are included in the model and can then be used, for example, in the search function of the portal.

Exporting the Content Model

You can transport the content model to other portals in your organization.

1. Navigate to  System Administration  System Configuration  Content Model Management  Content Model Export . The Transport wizard appears directly to the destination step, showing the name of the package, which is created automatically, and the default export destination.

   Note

   If the default destination folder contains subfolders, you can choose Browse and select a subfolder as the export destination.

2. Choose Next . The Summary step appears to give you information related to the transport package.

3. Choose Export . The transport begins, indicating its progress until it is finished. It then displays a log that lists the exported objects and their status.

4. In the link bar, you can choose Download file to save the transport archive to any convenient location in the file system.
