The user management repository manager makes information about users, groups, and roles accessible in CM.
Users, groups, and roles can be addressed by a normal URL.
The content of a user resource is a regular document that can be sent or copied elsewhere. The default format is an xml/rdf representation of the vCard standard defined by the IMC (Internet Mail Consortium).
Binary data of a user provided by user management (for example, photos, logos, sound data, and so on) can be retrieved form the user management repository manager as regular content of a URL associated with the user.
The data of a user is retrieved in multiple formats, for example, as a standard vCard for e-mail attachments
Since this repository manager serves only for reading information from user management, content cannot be moved or copied into, or moved or deleted from the user management repository. In the current implementation, it is also not possible to change any properties.
However, it is possible to copy the documents representing the users to any other repository. Those are just representations of the available user data in different formats, for example, plain vCard format or an xml/rdf representation of the vCard standard (which is the default format).
User Management Repository Manager Parameters
Parameter | Required | Description |
---|---|---|
Name |
Yes |
Name of the repository manager. |
Description |
No |
Description of the repository manager. |
Prefix |
Yes |
The URI prefix for which the manager is registered. The URIs of all resources managed by this repository manager have this prefix in common. This prefix is used to identify the repository manager that is responsible for a resource with a given URI. Note that you must enter the prefix with a forward slash, for example, /um . |
Active |
No |
You can (de)activate the repository manager using the Active parameter. |
Hide in Root Folder |
No |
Specifies whether the repository is listed in the root directory. If you activate this parameter, the repository is not listed in the root directory. |
List Members |
No |
This parameter determines whether the system can search the user management repository. If the existing user management contains a large number of users, this can lead to performance problems because thousands of entries could be listed. By default, this parameter is deactivated. |
The user management repository manager is preconfigured in the KM standard configuration. Normally, you do not need to change its configuration, nor do you need to set up additional repository managers of this type.
To check the configuration, choose Content Management → Repository Managers → User Management Repository.
